{"id":5203,"date":"2026-04-23T23:17:48","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T23:17:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fnmpc.ca\/conference\/?post_type=speaker&#038;p=5203"},"modified":"2026-04-29T14:56:18","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T14:56:18","slug":"the-honourable-stephen-lecce","status":"publish","type":"speaker","link":"https:\/\/fnmpc.ca\/conference\/speaker\/the-honourable-stephen-lecce\/","title":{"rendered":"The Honourable Stephen Lecce"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-custom-alignment\"><strong>The Honourable Stephen Lecce<\/strong>, Ontario\u2019s current Minister of Energy and Mines and the Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for King-Vaughan.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-custom-alignment\">Stephen Lecce serves as Ontario\u2019s Minister of Energy and Mines, with a mandate focused on expanding clean, reliable and affordable energy and accelerating responsible development of Ontario\u2019s critical minerals.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-custom-alignment\">In his mission to position Ontario as an energy superpower, Stephen is expanding electricity generation\u2014anchored by nuclear power\u2014along with transmission and storage. To deliver on this urgent imperative, he is advancing Ontario\u2019s leadership in nuclear energy, including the first grid-scale small modular reactor (SMR) in the G7 and plans to build what could become the largest nuclear generating station in the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-custom-alignment\">With his mandate, he is working to aggressively unlock one of the largest untapped deposits of critical minerals and rare earth metals on the planet\u2014vital to Canada\u2019s future prosperity and security. This includes accelerating permitting to get shovels in the ground, while working to diversify export markets\u2014from minerals to nuclear energy.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-custom-alignment\">Stephen&#8217;s first experience in politics began in his hometown of Vaughan where he was involved in the 1999 election of the late MPP Al Palladini. Since then, he has served as Chief Spokesperson to Canada\u2019s 22nd Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper.
