Janelle Nahanee

Janelle Nahanee is the Executive Assistant at the FNMPC. She is a member of the Skwxwu7mesh Nation. Janelle attended Capilano University, acquiring a Certificate in Business Administration, Accounting Assistant & Legal Assistant. She also attended the Justice Institute of British Columbia where she obtained a Certificate in Emergency Medical Responder to become a paramedic.

Janelle Nahanee has volunteer experience with the Squamish Nation’s annual pow wow since she was 11 years old; helping her grandma’s Authentic Cowichan Indian Knits booth. She gained experience from her mother, grandmother and grandfather in cultural ceremony protocols. She also has gained cultural experience from her father who is a master Coast Salish carver within the Squamish nation of over 50 years, he has taught her the history and symbolism of our territory’s wildlife and why it’s so important to keep our traditions alive. Janelle also gained knowledge in traditional protocols from working at the Squamish Nation, arranging changes of seasons ceremonies to keep within our cultural beliefs.

Janelle started her journey with FNMPC in 2020, and is proud to be a part of the FNMPC family, helping our First Nations member communities become stronger and more resilient.
