Session 1 – National Indigenous Electrification Strategy

Tuesday, April 23
9:06am – 9:20am

Mokwateh and FNMPC have partnered to create a National Indigenous Electrification Strategy, funded by the Ivey Foundation. This initiative centres Indigenous nations as leaders in decarbonizing and doubling Canada’s electricity generation, transmission and distribution systems, while creating economic opportunities for Nation members. Panelists will discuss the outcomes of the study — to be revealed for the first time at this session. The discussion will focus on how Indigenous nations should be supported in Canada’s energy transition with the resources, capacity and experience to develop major projects that help reduce Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions.
