Session 6 – Canadian Mining and First Nations

Monday, April 22
3:30pm – 4:00pm

Given the previous two panels highlighted how mining companies, investors, and societies can benefit from mining aligned with community development interests, how might these examples be incorporated in Canada? Could mining operations in northern Canada be reimagined to support First Nation self-determination goals and aspirations? Panelists from three Ontario First Nations will discuss how – or if – lessons from mining overseas could apply here in Canada and on Indigenous lands.
