Rukumoana Schaafhausen is Chair of the Office of the Māori Queen, Principal Advisor to Her Majesty Te Arikinui Kuini Nga wai hono i te po, a tenured iwi leader with over 30 years’ experience in iwi governance, and a distinguished commercial director with a background in law. In addition to her role in the Office, Rukumoana holds numerous directorships for some of Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest banking, finance, energy, and infrastructure companies.
Over the past year, Rukumoana has been responsible for the establishment of the Kotahitanga Fund, a new Māori-owned investment fund established by Her Majesty Te Arikinui Kuini Nga wai hono i te po. Made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2022 for her services to Māori and the community, Rukumoana’s strength lies in working across corporates, communities and iwi to make positive social change for all of Aotearoa.
