Councillor Jesse James Herkimer, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation

Jesse is an elected Councilor of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, where he leads the Inclusive Prosperity, Economic Growth and Job Creation portfolio on behalf of his Council colleagues. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Mississaugas of the Credit Business Corporation, helping guide strategic economic initiatives that support the Nation’s long-term vision.

Over a business career spanning more than two decades, Jesse has built experience across real estate, equity investing, and the bulk raw material delivery industry. Early in his career, he sailed internationally as a wheelsman on freighters, gaining a global perspective and a strong work ethic that continues to shape his leadership today.

With politics and service deeply rooted in his family, inspired by his grandfather’s long tenure on Council, Jesse answered the call to bring his experience home in service to his community. His work is grounded in advancing the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation’s rights, strengthening economic independence, and ensuring development is aligned with the Nation’s values and long term priorities.

His work remains focused on supporting community driven prosperity, strengthening economic foundations, and contributing to a future where the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation continues to grow and thrive for generations to come.
