Crystal Nicholas (Potlotek First Nation), President & Interim General Manager, Wskijinu’k Mtmo’taqnuow Agency Ltd.
Crystal Nicholas is a recognized leader in economic development and Indigenous business leadership, currently serving as President & Interim General Manager of Wskijinu’k Mtmo’taqnuow Agency Ltd. (WMA), the economic development partnership owned by the 13 Mi’kmaw First Nations in Nova Scotia. Crystal plays a pivotal role in coordinating strategic plans for these communities, overseeing initiatives that align with Mi’kmaw values and promote sustainable economic growth through joint ventures and partnerships with industry leaders.
Before joining WMA, Crystal held key roles in advancing economic development for Potlotek First Nation, including Acting Economic Development Manager, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Executive Officer. Her background is complemented by a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Cape Breton University, advanced certificates in Management Essentials and Negotiation Mastery from Harvard Business School, and an ongoing JD program at Dalhousie University.
Crystal is a member of the Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers (CANDO) and the Mi’kmaq-Nova-Canada Tripartite Forum in the Economic Development Working Group, where she brings a unique perspective to fostering collaborations that benefit Indigenous communities across Canada.
