Heather Bishop (Cold Lake First Nations) Economic Development Director,Cold Lake First Nations  

Heather Bishop is the Economic Development Director with Cold Lake First Nations.   Heather has 35 years of experience in the area of Indigenous governance, business development, stakeholder engagement, environmental, socio-economic, and regulatory requirements, Indigenous knowledge, business strategy, and social accountability.  During her long-standing career in the energy sector and in Indigenous communities, Heather has been able to apply her experience and skills to effectively facilitate direct and meaningful participation of Indigenous communities and business in the energy and defence sectors through business and project development, Indigenous governance, fiscal responsibility, and negotiation of equity partnerships and strategic alliances.  

A tribal member of Cold Lake First Nations, Heather graduated from Olds College with a diploma in land and resource management with a specialization in land classification and reclamation and holds a certificate in occupational health and safety from the University of Alberta.  Heather participates in numerous organizations that are directly involved in economic, Indigenous community, and resource development, and currently serves on the board of a non-profit organization that supports Indigenous youth in sport and recreation development.
